5,000 lives touched, 3,000 trees planted, 8,000 meals served, 250 volunteers active. The numbers, the stories, and what comes next.
Five years feels like a strange milestone. Long enough that we have a real history. Short enough that we still feel like we're just getting started. We sat down recently with our founding volunteers and made a list of what has actually happened since 2021. Some of it surprised us. We share the numbers below not to celebrate, but to be accountable.
Lives touched: 5,000+. This includes children in our after-school centres, women in our skill workshops, families receiving ration kits, patients at our health camps, and individuals helped during disaster relief. We try to count carefully and not double-count. We probably still do, sometimes. We are working on it.
Trees planted: 3,000+. Survival rate over 18 months: about 72%. We are not satisfied with this number. We are working on improving aftercare. The next target is 80%.
Meals served: 8,000+. Mostly through Anna Daan programmes — monthly ration kits, festival meal drives, and crisis hot meals. The cost per meal, including logistics, has come down from ₹38 in 2021 to ₹22 in 2025 as we have learned to operate more efficiently.
Volunteers active: 250+. Average volunteer commitment: 14 months. Best part of our last five years has been watching volunteers grow into leaders, and leaders grow into mentors for the next group of volunteers. The Samarpan family today is run, day-to-day, by people who walked in as 19-year-olds with no experience and stayed.
What comes next? More of the same, done better. We want to deepen our work in Soygaon tehsil before we expand. We want to be the NGO that knows every street, every family, every story in our area — not the one that has a thin presence in five districts. Depth, not width. Quietly, not loudly. Burning steadily, like the samidha we said we would be. Thank you for walking with us.
